              The Datura Crossbody Bag is a great beginner sewists project. This compact crossbody is the perfect size for just a few essentials. How many times do you need your cards, phone, sunglasses, lip chap, and an epi-pen, but want to “forget” you're carrying a bag as well? THIS is the bag you need! The Datura Crossbody Bag has a main zipper closure, 2 card slots, key lanyard, and a back magnetic slip pocket! There are even cut files to make it a super quick sew!

SUPPLIES NEEDED FOR THE DATURA BAG (FABRIC, INTERFACING, HARDWARE):

-EXTERIOR MATERIALS - 1/4 yard or 1/4 meter - Quilting Cotton, Woven, Canvas, Cork, or Vinyl for the Exterior.

TIP: Remember this is a small project, and the heavier the materials, the harder it will be to turn.

-LINING MATERIALS - 1/4 yard or 1/4 meter - Cotton Woven, Canvas, Ripstop, or WPC (Water-Proof Canvas)/WRO (Water Resistant Oxford) for the Interior Lining.

-LIGHTWEIGHT WOVEN INTERFACING 120gsm - up to 1/4 yard or 1/4 meter x 58” wide - Woven Interfacing 120gsm (Pellon SF101 or equivalent; EBfuse, STIFI, etc.)

-COORINATING LINING MATERIALS - 1/4 yard or 1/4 for Card Slots - WPC (Water-Proof Canvas)/WRO (Water Resistant Oxford) or Cotton Woven.

-ZIPPER TAPE – 7” of #5 Zipper Tape and 2 x Zipper Pulls.

-WEBBING – 2 yards or 2 meters of 1” (2.5 cm) wide Webbing, for the Main Adjustable Strap.

-1” BOX/RECTANGLE RING – 1 x 1” (2.5 cm) Box or Rectangle Ring- For the Main Adjustable Strap.

-1” STRAP ADJUSTER/SLIDER – 1 x 1” (2.5 cm) Strap Adjuster/Slider - For the Main Adjustable Strap.

-OPTIONAL: 1/2” or ROUND LOBSTER CLASP - 1 x Round OR 1 x 1/2” (13 mm) Lobster Clasp for the Interior Key Lanyard.

-OPTIONAL: PARACORD OR BIAS BINDING – CUT 1 x 25” (66 cm) of Paracord (or Elastic Paracord) OR

1/2” (13 mm) wide Double Folded Bias Binding, (sewn together) for the Interior Key Lanyard.

-MAGNETIC SNAP – 1 x 5/8” – 3/4" Magnetic Snap. Or use a fun decorative one!

-OPTIONAL: RIVETS/CHICAGO SCREWS – up to 4 x Rivets or Chicago Screws.

-OPTIONAL: 1” STRAP END – 1 x 1” (2.5 cm) Strap End.

The Datura Crossbody Pattern is drafted for use with domestic sewing machines. I have a Pfaff Quilt Expressions 710 and Pfaff Quilt Expression 3.5. I try to make things that don’t need an industrial machine, even though I have an industrial Juki-DDL 8100 eH/x. Please do not post full pictures of the pattern pieces on social media.        

The Datura Crossbody Bag pattern has both pictures and diagrams/illustrations. There are detailed instructions for every technique, along with “TIPS” and plenty of photos.
